Dating a recovered meth addict
When people become sober it opens up a world of possibility. They can now begin to rebuild their life and get back many of the things they have lost.Or it would turn out later they were bulimic or eventually had to start going to SAA meetings or something like that.Basically they were all fucked up and could relate to my stories about being fucked up, too.Perhaps the most infamous physical sign of meth use is an oral health condition known as “meth mouth.” Researchers surmise chronic meth use can lead to significantly less saliva production, associated dry mouth and bad breath, as well as extensive bruxism. This in turn leads to an increased risk of dental cavities, periodontal lesions and dental erosions.
Honestly, it’s gotten to the point that people with substance abuse issues seem more “normal” to me than people who are, in fact, you know, normal.
I do see the importance in seeking help and advice from someone else, whether it be a good friend, sponsor, or therapist, as many of us in early sobriety are still learning to make healthy decisions.
SOBER: Healthy dating in recovery, should look like healthy dating in general.
But dating a non-addict and a non-mental patient, non-suicidal girl, who was not sexually abused, eating disordered, heavily medicated or really into daddy issues was another experience entirely.
And, honestly, the experience has proven to be a whole lot fucking harder than I would have thought.

If you find specific drug paraphernalia scattered about, this is a likely sign of meth use. Look for crumpled aluminum foil with burn marks and straws or hollowed out ballpoint pens used to snort or smoke the drug.
